Elizabeth Beane, 93, died peacefully at 11:25 a.m., on Monday August 5, 2024, with her family by her side.
Elizabeth was born in Godfrey on November 30, 1930, the daughter of George and Emma (Groshans) Ruckman. She graduated in 1948 from Alton High School and went to work at Blue Cross & Blue Shield. After two years, she went to work at Olin Corporation in the payroll department where she retired after 20 years. While her children were growing up, she worked for 5 years at Godfrey State Bank as a Teller.
She loved playing cards, bingo, and playing Scrabble with her family. She also enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino. She was devoted to her family and dearly loved her granddaughters.
She married Jim N. Beane at 12th Street Presbyterian Church in Alton on October 7, 1950, and had 65 years of a wonderful marriage. After her husband retired from the Army, she and her husband operated Beanehaven Dairy Farm for 25 years. After retiring from dairy farming, she, and her husband sub-divided the farm into two acre building sites, which is now known as Fox Run Estates.
She is survived by two children, Jana (Alan) Krebs of Harpers Ferry, WV, and David Beane of Godfrey, IL. She had three wonderful granddaughters, Ashlee Graham of Augusta, GA, and Aubrey and Avery Beane of Godfrey, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 20, 2016, her parents, and two brothers, Cornelius (Neil) Ruckman and George G. Ruckman, and a sister Juanita Hill of Alton.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with a private graveside services.
