Eleanor Lily "Skip" Pohlman, 66, formerly of the Grafton area, died at 12:58 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.She was born in Alton on Dec. 11, 1944, the daughter of Paul & Helen (Bowman) Greer.Skip was a 1963 graduate of Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto, and had previously worked for Poleet Ambulance and Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home both in Jerseyville.  She also was a CNA, EMT, and ER tech working out of Jersey Community Hospital for many years before retiring in 1992.  She did countless hours of volunteer work in the Grafton area for the American Red Cross, and helped form the Grafton Emergency Service.She married Lawrence "Twig" Pohlman on Jan. 24, 1964 in Madison, IL., and the two made Grafton their home for over 30 years, before moving to Dixon, Mo in 1997.  After the death of her husband on Oct. 21, 2002, Skip relocated to Godfrey where she has made her home since.Surviving are her mother, Helen Greer of Alton; four children & their spouses, Rosalie LaValle, and her fiance' Tom Rose of Hardin, Timothy Cole of Cottage Hills, Dawn Pohlman of Rolla, Mo., and Kristina & Rodney Bethel of Florissant, Mo.; 11 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; two brothers & sisters in law, Paul & Donna Greer and Ray & Karen Greer all of East Alton; six sisters and brothers in law, Sharon & George Kottkamp of Florissant, Mo., Paula & Ray Mitchell of Brighton, Virginia & Art Chumley of South Haven, Mi., Catherine & Bill Miller of Godfrey, Judy & Robert Dobyns of Porter, Tx., and Regina & Scott Smith of Raymond, along with 27 nieces and nephews.In addition her to father and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise (Pohlman) Roberts on June 13, 2005, and an infant son, Lawrence A. Pohlman II in 1967.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Cremation will take place after the services and a private burial will take place at the Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton.Memorials may be given to Senior Services Plus, Inc.
