Eleanor Faye Nelson, 90, passed away at 5:48 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at her home. Born May 2, 1920 in Dorchester, Ill., she was a daughter of Alvin and Eleanor (Nobbe) Wolff. She married Lenas M. Nelson March 2, 1938 in St. Charles, Mo. He passed away May 20, 2001. A homemaker, she was a member of the Greater Alton Area Gold Star Mothers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Jim Donnelly of South Roxana; grandchildren, Kimberly Burke-Reape and her husband William, Billie Burke-Mayernik and her husband Kelly; Donna Burke-Schrader, Kelly Miller, and Jeff Nelson; great grandchildren, Christine and Laura Schrader, Robert and Jayme Mayernik, Shawn and Shannon Miller, and Brice and Collin Nelson; two great-great grandchildren, Desiree Shumate and Tommy Miller; and one sister, Marie Garner.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Audrey Nelson; two sons, Larry Lenas Nelson and Sgt. Robert Allen Nelson who was killed in Vietnam; three sisters, Valeda Sawyer, Sylvia Moon, and Verna Snider; and a brother, Robert Wolff.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where Rev. Daniel Decker will officiate services at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17.
Burial will be at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville.
