Elaine Ruyle

Elaine Ruyle, 77, died at 2:10 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at her home in Wood River with her family by her side. Born April 27, 1934 in Wood River, she was the daughter of Louis and Lelia (Stauder) Verdun.

She married James M. Ruyle on July 17, 1954 in Wood River. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1985. She and her husband co-owned and operated Ruyle TV Sales and Service, the Variety Fresh Donuts, State & Delmar Package Liquor, and Jimmy’s Tavern in Alton. She retired as a receptionist at Alton Multi-Specialist. Mrs. Ruyle attended Al-Anon for many years and also Liberty Christian Church, now known as River of Life Church.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Gus Noble of Houston, TX, and Cindy and Jett Seal of Wood River, an “adopted daughter,” Sharon Zitzman and her husband David of Godfrey, three grandchildren, David James Seal, Crispin George Noble, and Bradley James Noble, and two brothers, Leroy Verdun (Alice) of Wood River, and Donald Verdun of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Monica.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012. Reverend Fred Church will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
