Eileen M. Miller, 90, passed away at 9:30 am, Thursday, January 5, 2012, at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born on April 14, 1921, in Alton to James G. and Georgia (Jarrett) Wilds.
Eileen married Kenneth W. Miller on June 24, 1946 in Alton and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1991.
She own and operated her own beauty shop for many years and then she was was employed as a machinist at Olin Corporation during World War II for 5 years. Eileen then went to work at the Ursuline Convent as a cook for 28 years in Alton. She enjoyed playing cards, working in her yard and especially being with her family and dogs. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
She is survived by a daughter Pamela G. Wolf and spouse Carl of Alton, a son James Miller and spouse Nancy of Godfrey; six grandchildren Corey, Craig, Kyle Miller, Katie Cruse, Shawn Wolf and Stacey Aulabaugh; 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister Helen Wilds.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday January 10, 2012 at 10 am at the Ursuline Convent with Father Jim Walther O.M.V.
Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Ursuline Convent.
