Edward Joseph Steed, 69, of Bethalto, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at his residence.
Edward was born on December 20, 1948, in Alton, IL. The son of the late Roy and the late Dorothy (Terpening) Steed. He married Sharron S. Gilkey in Alton on April 1, 1966. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1992. He later married Judy M. Balicki at the Church of God in Ivy Heights on May 21, 1994.
Edward is a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a Warehouse Manager at Olin Corporation for 42 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and working on cars. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson and great grandson.
Along with his wife, Judy, he is survived by two daughters, Tonya Steed of South Roxana and Terissa (Keith) Alford of Brighton; two sisters, Betty (George) McKinzie of Mt. View, MO, and Leta (Ben) Hall of Worden; a grandson, Tyler (Alexis) Steed of Wood River; and a great-grandson, Emmett Joseph Steed.
Edward was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda K. Reynolds, and Cora Edwards; and a brother-in-law, Don Edwards.
Visitation will be from 4 pm until time of memorial service at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate. Cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be made to The Humane Society, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.
