Edward J. Flynn, 79, passed away at 2:34 pm, Wednesday, February 12, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Ed was born December 5, 1933 in Litchfield, IL the son of George and Ruth (Wilson) Flynn.
He graduated from Western Illinois University and then worked for State Farm Life Insurance Company.
Ed married Judith Thompson on November 22, 1958 in Macomb, IL. She survives.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael E. & Rita Flynn of Bloomington, Indiana, and Scott A. Flynn of South Florida; five grandchildren, Reilly, Cullen, Dillon, Brigid and Fiona, all of Bloomington, Indiana; brothers Brendan (Jane) of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and Daniel (Luisa) of St. Louis, MO; sisters, Catherine Flynn of Litchfield and Sister Mary Flynn of Springfield, IL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Riley, Robert, and Stephen Schwab and George, William, and Gerald Flynn.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9 am until time of funeral services at 11 am Saturday February 16, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Father John Luong officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton with military rites by VFW Post 1308.
