Edward Coleman, 75, passed away peacefully at his son's residence on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
He was born on December 20, 1949, in Alton, IL, to Clarence and Elizabeth (Wiseman) Coleman.
Edward married Viola Dull on August 19, 1989, in Alton, IL.
Edward worked as a custodian for Lewis and Clark Community College. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. He loved Jesus, fishing, and outdoor games. He enjoyed history, was an artist, loved photography, and enjoyed animals.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Viola; his daughters, Sinah Gosnell from Pittsfield, IL, Jennie (Jeremy) Flinn from Silex, Missouri, Laura (James) Kattner from Florida, Shauna (Jason) Parker from Edwardsville, IL, and Stephanie Patterson from Alton, IL; his sons, Edward Harris from Brighton, IL, Derek (Jamie) McCollum from Arkansas, and Nick Patterson from East Alton, IL; brother, Ron Harris of Brighton, IL; 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, late wife Naomi Coleman, and sister, Rosella Pruitt.
Visitation will be on March 11, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Homes - Godfrey, Illinois, with Rev. Andre Dubson, officiating.
Burial will take place at Upper Alton Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted by active duty and VFW #1308.
