Edward C. Lacey, age 77 of Alton died at 3:05 am on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 28, 1933 in Peoria the son of the late Frank K. and Vera M. (Gramlich) Lacey.
Ed was a US Marine Corps veteran and retired as a distribution superintendent from the IL American Water Co. after 24 years of service. After his retirement he worked as a driver for the Alton Mental Health facility and also Eden Village in Glen Carbon. He loved to travel and watch baseball, especially the Dodgers and also enjoyed an occasional horse race. On Feb 6, 1974 in Springfield, N.J. he married the former Pat (Mosher) and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; Cheryl Sherbaugh and her companion Frank Spillar of Mt. Pleasant, PA, Valerie Beckwith and her husband Bob of Creekside, PA, a step son; George Ulrich of Alton, two step daughters; Susan Hoekstra and husband Phil of Long Valley, New Jersey, Sarah Ulrich and fiancé Sam Mellor of St. Louis, MO, eight grandchildren; Nicole, Caroline, Brooke, Joel, Christopher, Michael, Lilith and Shane and three great grandchildren, one sister; Patricia Turner of Peoria.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step daughter; Patricia Edgell and a brother; Phillip Lacey.
