Edith M. Batchelor, 88, passed away at 6:50 pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton with her family at her side. She is again united with her beloved soulmate Albert.
She was born in Cadiz, KY on July 6, 1927, the daughter of the late Thomas J. & Ernestine Sons.
She married Albert Myron Batchelor on September 16, 1947 at Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton, they enjoyed 67 years of marriage, until his passing on January 26, 2015.
Edith had been a lifetime member of Cherry Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her dog Amber.
She is survived by one son, Michael (Brenda) Batchelor of Alton; one daughter, Theodosia (Jim) Tiemann of Brighton; four grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew) Merkle of Alton, Kim (Jason) Campbell of Alton, Michael R.A. Batchelor of Godfrey, and Katelyn Batchelor of Alton; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, and Shelby Campbell, Genevieve Merkle with one Campbell grandson due in August and one niece and one great niece both from IN.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas J. Sons Jr.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be at 11 am Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the funeral home with Dr. Glen Greenwood and Rev. Paul Militzer officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
