Edith “Arlene” Kincaid, 84, passed away at 11:40 pm Monday, September 19, 2011 at Bethalto Care Center.
She was born on April 30, 1927 in Kane, IL, the daughter of Eddison Lynn and Hattie (Captolia) Abbott.
She married Walter G. Kincaid in September 1948. He passed away in November 1984.
Edith was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of the Forest Homes First Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed working with flowers, being outdoors, pets, music and she had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Kincaid and Brenda and Dennis Emmons; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Darlene Kincaid and Kenneth and Linda Kincaid; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers, Earl, Alvin, Jim, Richard, Christie, Albert and Lyman Abbott and six sisters, Ethel Sprowel, Catherine Abbott, Thelma Varble, Alice Mapes, Leona and Jenny Abbott..
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of funeral services at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Richard Newcom officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the 5 A’s Animal Shelter.
