Earleen “Dolly” Gaines Pinson, 89, died at home in St. Germain-en-laye, France on Thursday, June 11, 2015. Born December 22, 1925 in Alton, Illinois, Dolly was the daughter of Earl Lee and Myrtle Hortense Bates Gaines. She was an accomplished hostess, cook and homemaker. She and her husband were known for graciously hosting people from across the Atlantic and around the globe. Dolly was a devotee of the arts and shared her love and knowledge of music, art and philosophy with many. Dolly attended the University of California at Berkeley.
On July 11, 1951, Dolly married Francois Emil Pinson in his home town of St. Germain-en-laye, outside of Paris, France. Her husband preceded her in death on April 25, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert, William and Thomas Gaines and one sister, Ruth Ann (Stewart) Hall. Her eldest sister, Dorothy Gaines Milnor subsequently died on August 15, 2015. There will be a private memorial service for Dolly on Saturday, September 5, 2015, in Alton.
