Dr. William F. Dilley

Dr. William F. Dilley, 75, passed away at 12:08 pm, Monday March 12, 2012, at his home with family and friends by his side.

 

He was born in Fosterberg, IL on June 4, 1936, the son of the late Aden L. Dilley and Barbara (Stites) Blockburger.

On February 14, 1964, he married Veronica L. Locke in Alton, IL.

He was a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and retired from Pennsylvania Truck Lines. He was also a home builder, small business owner and served his country in the US Navy. Bill was a life-long member of Brown Street Baptist Church and belonged to Alton Franklin Masonic Lodge #25 AF&AM. He was a hard-working creative man who enjoyed traveling, building projects and sharing his love of the outdoors with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Ronnie, he is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Melinda and Mark Genitempo of Kemah, TX, Kristine and Steven Gurley of Diamondhead, MS, and Jana and Michael Flynn of Wildwood, MO; eleven grandchildren, Kristyn and Kennedy Mayfield, Andrew, Christopher, and William Genitempo, Corbin, Libbie, and Cole DeStefano, Brittney Gurley; Connor and Jamison Flynn; one great grandchild, Kylee Gurley; one sister, Barbara J. Hubbard of Alton; one brother John Dilley of Alaska; two sisters in law, Myrna Dilley of Alton and Ruth Dilley of East Alton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Jane; three brothers Clifford, Virgil, and Paul, and his step-father Ed Blockburger.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Friday March 16, 2012, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.

Funeral service will be at 10 am, Saturday March 17, 2012, at Brown Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Burman officiating. 

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.

Military Rites will be performed by Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.

Memorials may be directed to Brown Street Baptist Church or The American Diabetes Association.
