Dr. Ralph H. Baahlmann Sr

Dr. Ralph H. Baahlmann Sr., 88, died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Alton. Born September 26, 1924 in Aviston, Il, he was the son of Henry and Frances (Renschen) Baahlmann. Dr. Baahlmann became a Registered Nurse and worked his way through Dental School at St. Louis University School of Dentistry. After receiving his DDS, he then served in the Korean War. After his service in the war, Dr. Baahlmann built his dental practice in the Alton area and served his community until his retirement in 1996. Of his many activities and achievements, he was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of Lockhaven Country Club. He served on the Board of Directors at St Anthony’s Hospital and served on the Illinois State Board of Examiners for Dentistry. On June 14, 1952 in Aviston, Il, he married the former Virginia “Ginny” Gangloff. She survives. Also surviving are six children; Ralph H. Baahlmann Jr. of Godfrey, Mark G. Baahlmann of Alton, Barbara M. Boyd (Dr. Tobin Boyd) of Alton, Matthew L. Baahlmann (Teri) of Godfrey, Nancy E. Reese (Tom) of Alton, and John L. Baahlmann (Nancy) of Brighton, nine grandchildren; Matthew and Jill Baahlmann, Matthew Korte and Kortney, Nick Korte, Christopher and Megan Springman, Grace and Jacob Reese, and Ashley Kaid (Anthony), and two great-grandchildren, Keagan Korte and Haylee Kaid. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose School, Marquette Catholic High School, or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
