Douglas L. Miller, 64, passed away at 7:33 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2012 at Jersey Community Hospital after years of struggling with emphysema.He was born in Rosedale on Aug. 17, 1947, one of ten children born to the late Earsie L. & Hazel M. (Seeman) Miller.Douglas grew up in the Fieldon/Nutwood area, and enjoyed doing anything in the woods, especially if it involved hunting for ginseng or mushrooms.  He had been employed for many years as a laborer in the construction business, as well as at Federal Steel in East Alton, and worked in maintenance at the Tri County Bowl in Jerseyville, until his health failed.He married the former Eva Darlene Kappler at the Healing Waters Temple in Jerseyville, and together they have shared nearly 42 years together.Surviving are his wife, Darlene Miller of Jerseyville; a daughter & son in law,  Lisa & John Tomerlin of Jerseyville; his only granddaughter, who just so happened to be his "world", Kelsie Marie Tomerlin; four brothers, Dennis Miller of Kane, Jeff Miller of Fieldon, Earsie "Danny" Miller of Jerseyville, Herb Miller of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Betty Miller of Jerseyville, Debra Wyhs of Fieldon, and Melissa Hill of Carlinville.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest William Miller; and his father in law & mother in law, Rev. Louis & Mary Kappler.Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Graveside services wll be conducted at 6:15 p.m. on Friday at the Fieldon Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the family of Douglas Miller for a memorial to be established later.
