Dorothy Mae (Stone) Eisenreich died peacefully, after declining health, at Eunice Smith Home at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013. She was born April 17, 1923 in rural Jersey County, one of ten children born to Christy John and Elizabeth Johanna (Kruse) Stone. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brighton, IL. Later she joined Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton continuing her faith in the Lord until death. After her father died in January 1940 she helped raise her younger siblings and continued until she went to work at Western Cartridge Co in the detonator, now Olin, until January of 1955 when her only child was born. On October 10, 1953 in Alton, she married William Emil Eisenreich and to that union was born their daughter Toni Ranae’ Eisenreich who died on September 14, 1971. Her husband William Emil Eisenreich died November 29, 1988. After her daughter’s death she worked part time for the Alton School District and assisted her husband at Senior Services in Alton. Along with her father in 1940, her mother in February 1962, her daughter and her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother at birth, brothers, Melvin, William, Virgil, and Leon Stone, a sister, Marjorie Miller, a step-daughter Joann martin and a step-granddaughter, Joy Lee Eisenreich. Survivors include sisters, Roberta Burleson, Mary Lou Moore (Charles), Shirley Berry (Paul), step-son, Dale L. Eisenreich (Jewell), step-granddaughter, Kay Ellen Mondin (John), step-grandson, David Martin and step-granddaughter, Linda Martin Nelson, former sisters-in-law, Bonnie Stone and Barbara Stone and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge a heartfelt thanks to the entire staff and employees of Eunice Smith Home and BJC Hospice for the outstanding care, love and support given to Dorothy during her illness. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Randy Fischer will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to Messiah Lutheran Church, 920 Milton Road, Alton, IL 62002 or to Siteman Cancer Center, Washington University, Campus Box 1204, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105-2161 for Brain Cancer Research in memory of her deceased daughter, Toni Ranae’ Eisenreich.
