Dorothy E. Hans, 77, died unexpectedly at 8:00 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Born September 13, 1933 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Al and Catherine (Paschang) Grelle.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Godfrey K of C Ladies Auxiliary.
On October 30, 1954 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton, she married Paul J. Hans. He survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Nancy Cook and her husband Danny of Elsah, three sons, Steve Hans of Wood River, Tom Hans of Fischer, IL, and David Hans and his wife Mary of Town & Country, MO, a son-in-law, Jim Baze of Godfrey, eight grandchildren, Lauren, Ciara, and Morgan Cook, Thomas Hans, Nathan Sykes, Heather Hans, Cameron Wallace, and Chloe Baze, one great grandson, Gage Hans, and three sisters, Margaret Bechtold of Jerseyville, Mildred Grelle of Alton, and Catherine Chapman of Bunker Hill. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Baze.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, American Diabetes Association or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
