Dorothy Barbara Galligos, age 80, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, May 2, 2010. Dorothy, or Aunt Dot to many, was born in Alton on October 6, 1929 to the late Abdon (Dan) and Emma (Trujillo) Galligos. She is sister to six brothers, Al, John, Joe, Dan, Charlie, Fred and one sister, Mary (Garner) Bull. All preceded her in death.
Survivors include nephews; Dan Garner and wife Carol of Godfrey, Paul Galligos and wife Cheryl of Murrayville, IL, Carl Galligos of Rockford, IL, John Galligos and wife Jamie of Arnold, MO, Robert Galligos and wife Paula of Nixa, MO, Keith Galligos and wife Laura of Ballwin, MO and Charles Galligos, Nieces; Janet Galligos of St Charles, IL, Carol McHalton and husband Richard, Nancy Hayes and husband Glen all of Alton IL. She is also survived by her very close friend of life, Mary Light of Alton, as well as great niece and nephews; Marie Garner of Godfrey IL, Susan Kincella and husband William of Channahon IL, Matt Garner and wife Chris of Alton, Scott Garner and wife Darlene of Alton, Linda Bolton and husband Mike of Moro, IL and Mike Garner and wife Niccole of Alton. Also included is a large family of great nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a loyal Owens-Illinois-Brockway Glass employee with 47 years of service. She was very active in the Onized Club, Alton Moose Lodge and playing company sports, including women’s golf, bowling and softball. She was a life-member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and her active life blessed her with many friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 4 until 8pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. Nnambi Moneme, OMV celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
