Dorothy A. Wiseheart (Lanham) 83 of Jerseyville, IL, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday morning December 26, 2010 after spending a wonderful Christmas with her family. She was born September 17, 1927 in Jersey County to parents Fred and Jesse (Morgan) Lanham.
Born as the only child, Dorothy grew up on the family farm north of Jerseyville. She attended White Rose country school. She attended Jersey Community High School where she played coronet in the band. She is a
member of the graduating class of 1945. After Graduation, Dorothy went to work at The State Bank of Jerseyville where she worked as a teller until 1962.
In 1952, Dorothy Lanham met her future husband Herbert Wiseheart. They were married on May 16, 1954. In 2004 Herb and Dorothy celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary surrounded by many of their family and friends.
In 1963 she gave birth to their son David. Six years later, in 1969, they was blessed with a daughter, Elizabeth.
Because of Herb’s job, Herb and Dorothy moved away from Jerseyville in 1965. They spent time living in Delaware, Missouri and Louisiana before returning to Jerseyville in the summer of 2002.
She was a volunteer at Jersey Community Hospital.
An active member of First Baptist Church of Jerseyville.
An ambassadors for the Jersey County Business Association.
A former leader of Baptist Youth Fellowship (BYF) - F.B.C. Jerseyville.
She was a member of Church Woman United, Home Extension, Garden Club and the Northshore Bird Club. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and had a love for all animals with a special fondness for dogs
She was survived by her son David Wiseheart (Jerseyville) and daughter Elizabeth ( Glen Carbon), and two granddogs, Gumbo and Sky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Her Husband
Visitation will be held at the Alexander/Gubser funeral home on Wednesday, December 28^th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, December 30th at First Baptist Church of Jerseyville at 10:00 a.m. following a short visitation at the church, from 9:00 till 10:00. Service will be officiated by Rev. Gerald Phillips. Internment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
