Dorothy A. “Dotty” Schleeper Brooks 78 of Godfrey went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 3:17 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.

She was born in Alton, on December 21, 1932 the daughter of the late Arthur and Agnes (Gissal) Gerber.

Dotty married Robert Schleeper in 1954; he preceded her in death in 1981. She later married Gerald Brooks in 1989 and he preceded her in death in 2002.

She was employed at St. Anthony’s Health Center for 14 years as a unit clerk. She lived in the Alton area all of her life, and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. She was an avid Cardinal fan, and enjoyed playing bridge and other games with family and friends. She played bridge with the same group of friends for over fifty years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren. 

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses; Suzanne and Michael Stalcup of Brownsburg, IN, and Cathy and Mark Kasten of Tequesta, FL, two sons; Michael and his spouse Anne Schleeper of Macomb, OK, and John Schleeper of Larned, KS, six grandchildren; Nicole and her spouse Adam Winchester, Jessica Stalcup, Michael and his spouse Heather Schleeper, Dustin and his spouse Elisabeth Schleeper, Tyler Kasten, and Andrew Kasten. Four Great Grandchildren, Keyton Schleeper, Kaden Schleeper, Caleb Schleeper and Nicholas Schleeper. Nephews; Tim and Jeff, Nieces; Chris, Carol and Nancy Swinney who lovingly cared for Dotty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one sister Jean Walter. 

Visitations will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 11:30 am until time of Mass at 1:00 pm, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, in Godfrey, Il. Fr. Steve Pohlman will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey, Il.
