Doris Montez Lemons, 84, passed away 12:40 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Integrity Healthcare of Wood River.

Born on June 14, 1931 in Pacolet Mills, SC, she was the daughter of Clarence Jones and Rose (Garner) Parker.

She served as a W.A.C. in the Army during WWII, then employed as an assembler for Carter Carburetors for 22 years and then Intaglio Glass for 12 years and finally as a driver for Godfrey Bus Lines.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth R. Lemons (Debe Wilson) of Wood River; daughter, Susan R. (Mike) Handler of Wood River; four grandchildren, Chris (Kim) Handler, Melissa (Martin) Long all of East Alton, Cody Handler (Amanda Perry), Tiffany Lemons all of Wood River; seven great grandchildren, Brady, Caleb, Hailey, Elizabeth and Aubrey Handler, Madelyn Long, Natasha Perry; and nephews Ricky and Larry Gentry both of South Carolina.

Preceding her in death were her parents; step-father, Wofford Garner; and sister, Carolyn "Babe" Gentry.

Private services will be conducted at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice - Alton.
