Doris Hamelmann, 93, passed away at 9:12 am Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her residence with her family by her side..
She was born on August 21, 1922 in Pana, IL the daughter of the late Melville and Norma (Walraven) Schwensen.
She married Robert Hamelmann in Wood River, IL on October 23, 1943, he preceded her in death on November 8, 2004.
Doris was a member of the Women of the Moose Alton Chapter and the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW Post 1308. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her pet dog. She enjoyed family gatherings but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter; Norma Hamelmann of Alton, a son; Robert Hamelmann of Dow, two granddaughters and their spouses; Paula and Jeff Meier of Highland and Traci and Jason Stump of LasVegas, two grandsons; Chad Hamelmann of Alton and Roby Hamelmann of Alton, two nephews; Ed Marshall of Wisconsin and George and his spouse Barbara Van Horne of Texas, a niece Kathy and her spouse Roger Kamp of Alton. She is also survived by; five great grandson’s, four great granddaughters, two great nieces and two great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister and brother in law; Marion and Ralph Van Horne and a sister in law and brother in law, Margaret and
Ed Marshall.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Monday May, 16, 2016 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, Il.
Visitation will continue from 10 am till time of service at 11 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with the Rev. Judith Lincoln officiating.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, IL.
Memorial may be made to the 5 A’s Humane Socirty.
