Mrs. Doris Evelyn Corbin (née Glass), of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the age of 90.
Doris was born to parents Olin Wayne “Dutch” Glass and Evelyn Ella Glass (née Simpson) on May 3, 1930 in Hillsboro, IL.
She grew up as the middle of five children and attended Hillsboro High School. She worked at the Hillsboro Glass Company and a local bank after graduating high school.
Doris married George William Corbin in 1950 and the couple had four children. She devoted her life to the care and service of her family. She was a phenomenal cook and baker, known for her “famous” pies. She was a beloved mother to her children and a wonderful friend to many.
Doris is survived by her four children: Sherry Ann (Leroy) Kloepper of St. Louis, Steven Lee Corbin, Robert George Corbin and Patricia “Patty” Corbin all of Glen Carbon, IL; 8 grandchildren: Meagen (Fickinger) Jacobs, Melissa Corbin, Jenna Corbin, Katie Corbin, Steven Corbin, Russell Treat, Andrew Treat and Alexandra (Ervin) Livorsi; also surviving, her brother, Olin “Bob” Glass, and sister, Eleanor Foster. She is also survived by her two precious great-grandchildren, Aiden and Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, George Corbin; her sisters Lucille Beeler and Billie Jean Vancil and her parents, Olin and Evelyn.
Doris’ wishes were to be cremated. A private family service provided by Saksa Funeral Home of Edwardsville, and officiated by Pastor Daniel Wilson of Grace Baptist Church is to be held at the Glen Carbon Cemetery on Friday, March 3, 2021.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63132-3214.
