Doris Elaine “Kay” Kling, 101, died at 3:25 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 at the home of her niece and nephew-in-law, Jill & Richard Price under the care of BJC Hospice. She was born on April 13, 1914 in Winona, Minnesota, one of five children born to the late Edward H. & Matilda (Jackson) Kling. Kay graduated from Winona Senior High School and later went on to obtain her teaching degree from Winona State University. She taught for 9 years, before changing career paths when she began her proud and dedicated vocation with the YWCA where she served in various capacities in both Minneapolis, MN as well as the Rock Island-Moline area, retiring in 1982 as Executive Director. She remained in Minneapolis for several years following her retirement until her health began to decline and she relocated to Dow to live with her niece and nephew-in-law, where she was lovingly cared for for the past 10 years. Surviving are a sister, Marianne Kling of Dow, formerly of Manhattan, NY; a niece and nephew-in-law, Jill & Richard Price of Dow; and a great-nephew, Chad Price also of Dow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Elwood and Stanley Kling; and two great-nephews, Kevin and Eric Price. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Riverbend Humane Society in Jerseyville in care of Crawford Funeral Home. Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
