Donnie “Ray” Elliott, age 84, formerly of Calhoun County, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, while in hospital care in St. Louis. His daughter Carlotta Roady and her husband, James Roady were there when he passed.
Ray served in the United States Air Force and loved all things related to aviation. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and was particularly fond of the older Harley-Davidsons.
He is survived by his daughter, Carlotta and her husband Jim Roady; five grandchildren, Jenesa (Anthony) Maggart, Branden (Tiffany) Roady, and Ian Roady; three great grandchildren, Taylor, Leah, and Emily; one brother, Lyndon V Sickmeier; numerous nieces and nephews; and his good friend, Mike Lavite.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Jean (Watsek) Elliott and his second wife, Karen Y. (Thompson) Elliott; his parents, John Elliott and Lois Sickmeier; stepfather, Herman Sickmeier; three sisters, Joyce Elliott Kramer, Nellie Elliott, and Pearl Elliott McEuen; and one brother, John Elliott, Jr.
A visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14 at Paynic Home for Funerals. Cremation rites will then be accorded.
Memorials may be made to the 5 A’s animal shelter.
