Donna Norvell Magee, age 76 of Godfrey died at 1:22 pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
Donna was born in Memphis, TN on June 30, 1945, the daughter of the late John and Louise (Walters) Norvell. She was a lifetime and founding member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Memphis and a graduate of Memphis State University. Donna worked alongside her husband as secretary/treasurer of their family-owned business, Specialty Alloys Corporation, retiring after 38 years. She was an award-winning gardener having won the best gardener of the year in Shelby County Tennessee. She also enjoyed training golden retrievers in both field and obedience, traveling the country for dog shows and competitions. She will always be remembered for her love of travel, cooking, and entertaining. Her family lost a loving, supportive, fun-loving role model, wife, mother, and grandmother.
On July 10, 1965, Donna married Gray Magee in Memphis, TN and he survives in Godfrey. Also surviving are their three children; Gray Magee III of Edwardsville, Heather Magee Fuller of Godfrey, and Christian Magee (Cristina) of Memphis, five grandchildren; Gray Magee IV, Joel Magee, Jenna Magee, Ben Ottwein, and Christian Magee, three great-grandchildren; Laylee Magee, Aylee Magee, and Gray Magee V, two brothers in law; Guion Magee of Memphis and Charles Schaeffer of St. Louis.
Besides her parents Donna was preceded in death by her in-laws; Col. Gray and Betty Magee and a sister-in-law; Annie Schaeffer.
