Donna Joyce Austin, 78, passed away at 3:43 a.m. Tuesday, July 05, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center of Alton.
Born Oct. 15, 1932 in Hartford, she was a daughter of Larry and Zelda (Johnson) Simms.
She married Jack Austin June 29, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1983.
A dispatcher for the East Alton Police Dept., she was a member of Vaughn Hill Church of Christ.
She is survived by 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Randal Rhodes of Roxana, Twila and Robert Adams of Edwardsville, Starla and Harold Irvin of Bunker Hill, and Karen and Robert Dare of Wood River; a son and his fiancée, Craig Austin and Christina Grenfell of Godfrey; grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy (David) Wittman, Robert (Traci) Skiff, Raymond Rhodes, Tosha and Angela Adams, Jennifer (Ryan) Robinson, Harold Irvin III, Candice (Jonathon) Ramsey, Matthew and Joshua Dare, Angie (Rick) Van Deutekom, Aaron Dare, Christopher Austin, and Ryan Ware; 20 great grandchildren, a sister, Carolyn Estes of Roxana; and four brothers, Robert Simms and Terry Simms, both of South Roxana, Wilbur Simms of Manchester, Mo. and James Simms of Moline, Ill.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Brandy Grenfell.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10.
Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
