Donald R. Fillback

Donald R. Fillback, 78, died Monday, September 12, 2011 at his home in Spanish Lake, MO.  Born August 19, 1933 in Venice, IL, he was the son of Joseph H. and Agnes (Gleason) Fillback.  Mr. Fillback served in the U.S. Army and retired from McCoy Transfer of Alton.  He loved bowling and fishing and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Alton Moose in Alton.  He was a past director of the Greater Alton Bowling Association and was a tournament volunteer for 21 years.  On November 5, 1957 in Ft. Lewis, Washington, he married the former Frances Oetken.  She preceded him in death on December 26, 1993.  surviving are five daughters, Marshelle Jost and her husband Jim of Florissant, MO, Linda Fillback of Spanish Lake, MO, Dawn Morgan and her husband Mike of Wood River, Tracy Giller and her husband Pete of Greenfield, and Lori Beilsmith and her husband Chris of Brighton, six sons, Harvey Fillback of Jackson, Montana, Robert Fillback and his wife Diane of Columbia, IL, Greg Fillback and his wife Alice of Godfrey, Joe Fillback of East Alton, Tony Mellitiello and his wife Sherry of Alton, and Paul Boston of El Cajon, CA, 21 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three brothers, Jim Fillback of Moro, Fred Fillback of Batchtown, and Sam Fillback of Alton, and two sisters, Doris Hagen of Hardin, and Florence Yenne of Alton.  He was preceded in death by two daughters, Paula Marie Fillback and Lisa Marie Fillback, and five brothers, Thomas, Jerry, Harvey, Robert and Joseph Fillback.  Visitation will be from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with a Loyal Order of the Moose Service at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 also at Gent Funeral Home.  Chad Martin will officiate.  Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with full military honors.  Memorials may be made to the Alton Catholic Children’s Home or the Moose Charities at Mooseheart, IL.
