Donald M. Hinrichs, 86, passed away at 5:28 am Saturday December 4, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 10, 1924 in Alton the son of the late Harry C. & Lillian (Bilderbeck) Hinrichs
He married Patricia Siglock on April 30, 1949 in Alton. She survives.
He was veteran of the US Army serving his country during WWII with the 81st combat Engineers of 106th Infantry Division. He fought in four of the seven major battles in Europe including the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, VFW Post 1308 in Alton, a charter member of Alton High Men’s Round Table Limited, and enjoyed family, friends, golfing and military reunions.
In addition to his wife, Patricia Hinrichs of Alton, he is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim & Marsha Hinrichs of Godfrey and Matt & Julie Hinrichs of Jerseyville, one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Mike Roberts of Godfrey, eleven grandchildren, Audrey Heischmidt and her husband Eric, Courtney Hinrichs and her fiancé Todd Meier, Arend C. Hinrichs, Lauren Horn and her husband Jim, Andrew M., Catherine, and Olivia Hinrichs, Nick, Rick, Bryan and Allison Roberts, three great grandchildren, Jackson and Julianna and Christopher.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be Wednesday December 8, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Thursday December 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic in Alton with Fr. Don Roberts celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey with full military rites by Alton VFW Post 1308.
