Donald Lee Klotz, 80, passed away at 3:30 pm on Monday, March 24, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 19, 1944, in Belleville, IL to Orville & Norma (Cameron) Klotz.

Don married Jean Reitz on August 31, 1963, in Hillsboro, IL. She survives.

He graduated from Greenville High School and retired from Shell Oil Company where he was employed as a maintenance supervisor.

Don had a passion for motocross motorcycle racing and was a trained EMT as well as a licensed private pilot. A dedicated member of his community, he was a proud Masonic Brother for 45 years, serving as Past Master. He dedicated 44 years as a board member of Shell Credit Union/Midwest Members, serving many of those years as treasurer.

After retiring, Don embraced life in Florida, where he formed lasting friendships. He thrived in the outdoors, playing thousands of rounds of golf and pursuing his love for running-an achievement highlighted by completing the St. Louis Marathon.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Ann (Craig) Kruckeberg of Edwardsville, Julie (Richard) Strasen of Brighton, and Brad (Kathy) Klotz of Bethalto; four grandchildren, Bria (Chad) Keffer, Marissa (Casey) Dinnius, Carly (Andrew) Arnold and Cole Strasen; four siblings, Ronald (Linda) Klotz of Sorento, IL, Larry Klotz of Florida, Judy O'Neill of Florida, and Glenda Tyszko of Florida; in-laws, Denise Klotz of New York, Scotty Scott of Tennessee, and Mary Klotz of Marine; along with numerous extended family members and good friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, Abigale Klotz; and three siblings, Gary Klotz, Glen Klotz, and Janice Scott.

Visitation will be held 9:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Reverend Dr. David Schultz will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to Southern Illinois Hospice or 5A's.
