JERSEYVILLE-  Donald Duane "Fergie" Ferguson, 53, died suddenly at 8:20 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011 at his residence in Delhi.He was born in Joliet on Aug. 30, 1957, one of three children born to Donald W. and Betty Jean (Lynn) Ferguson.He attended Jerseyville schools, and at the age of 21 he married the former Shirley Miller on Nov. 21, 1978 at the Delhi Baptist Church, and together they have shared the last 32 years together and a family that consisted of three sons.For a period of time "Fergie" worked for Whiteway Sanitation in Jerseyville, and Maw's Salvage in Fosterburg but as of late was self employed in the scrap business.Surviving are his wife, Shirley Ferguson; his father, Donald W. Ferguson of Jerseyville; three sons, Dallas, and his wife Patches Ferguson, Donald Ferguson Jr. and Michael Ferguson all of Delhi; two granddaughters, Brittany and Clarissa; a sister and brother in law, Debra Lynn & Stanley Rutkowski of Pontoon Beach; a brother, David James Ferguson of Hesperia, Ca.; a niece, Michelle Smith of Jerseyville, and a nephew, Zachary Smith of Pontoon Beach.He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Ferguson, and a niece, Christina Smith.Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with Rev. Dennis Hill officiating.For those wishing, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville and may be directed through Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville who is in charge of the arrangements.
