Donald “Don” E. Eaton, age 73, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton under the care of BJC Hospice.
He was born on March 14, 1938 in Flora, Illinois, the son of the late Clifford E. & Ola N. (Lents) Eaton
He married Jacqualin “Jackie” F. (Cannon) on November 7, 1959 at the Bethalto Presbyterian Church. She survives.
Don was a Bethalto CM graduate class of 1956, where he still to this day holds several CM high school sports records. He served his country for 2 year from 1957 until 1959 in the United States Marines and served 14 years with the National Guard out of Litchfield, IL. He was employed at Olin Corp as a Stock Supervisor for 39 years, retiring March 14, 2000. Don was in charge of the Gun Club at Olin for 27 years and was on the Bethalto School Board for 10 years. He enjoyed sports, was a Basketball Ref and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses; Brad & Connie Eaton of Bethalto, Rodney & Connie Eaton of Godfrey and Darren & Amy Eaton of Steelville, MO; seven grandchildren; five brothers and sisters and their spouses, Jean & Harvey Einglmier of Flora, IL, Sue & Dale Bruce of Hartford, Mary Ellen & Don Smith of Holiday Shores, Barbara & Bill Odom of Meadowbrook, Shirley & Danny Dunnagan of Bunker Hill and Jesse Eaton of Worden and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James “Jimmy” and Gary Eaton and two sisters, Joyce Bennett and Sandy Young.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Don Long officiating.
Burial will be follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites being preformed.

The family would like to deeply thank Rosewood Care Center for the loving care they gave to Don during his final days.
