Donald Curtis Hayes Sr, of South Roxana passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
Born December 27, 1953 he was the son of Arthur Lee Hayes Jr and Dolores Denise Shea.
Donald was know for working on cars, always helping when called, and always making sure everyone had enough to eat at get-togethers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and talking to his best friend since childhood, Mike. He worked out of Operating Engineers Local 520 until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter Tara (Joel) Groman of Roxana and his son Donald Hayes Jr. of South Roxana; his grandson Alexander Hayes and his granddaughter Aurora Groman; his sister Ellen Saville of St. Louis; his ex-wife Beverly Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Hayes; three brothers, Steven Hayes, Andrew Hayes, and Arthur Hayes; and a nephew Jody Hayes, who he helped raise.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a celebration of life is scheduled. Marks Mortuary is handing cremation.
