Donald James Bryant, 91, died at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Cedarhurst of Godfrey. Born May 11, 1933, in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Allen C. and Katherine (Meyer) Bryant. Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On June 28, 1958, he married the love of his life, Lynette Schleicher, in Belleville, IL. She preceded him in death.
A prominent local realtor, he retired as owner/operator of Don Bryant’s Gallery of Homes then moved to Sarasota, FL where he was a marketer, developer, salesman and motivational speaker.
Don was known and loved for his zest for life, his sense of humor, his determination and work ethic, and his fierce love and devotion to his family. He was a local, semi-famous, award-winning keeper and racer of homing pigeons. Over the years, Don was active in his communities, volunteering, pitching softball, and serving on several local boards. His love for his Chautauqua community was especially strong. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Wilson (Gary), Sally Crick Voorhees, one son, Chuck Bryant (Jill) and four grandchildren, Katlyn, Connor, Mattilyn and Austin. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Larry Bryant. Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of the memorial service at 3pm, Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be private at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
