Derrick Coffman, 25, passed away at 6:36 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at his residence after a short and courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born on May 9, 1985, in San Diego, California the son of Richard D. and Lisa A. (Watters) Coffman.
Survivors include his father: Richard D. Coffman of Tuscon, Arizona, his mother: Lisa Trumble of East Alton, Illinois, one sister: Lacy Trumble of Orange, Texas, his paternal grandparents: Willis D. and Barbara J. Coffman of Bethalto, Illinois, three aunts, one uncle, several cousins, and numerous friends.
He was formerly employed at the Belleville Humane Society as a technician. He was of the Lutheran faith. He loved music, his computer, and unusual books and movies with a rare sense of humor.
He was preceded by his maternal grandparents: James Ivan Watters and Earlene Burch.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the funeral home. Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.
