Derek J. Minton, 65, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1945 in Norfolk, England the son of John and Amy (Tolliday) Minton of Fredericktown, Missouri. He married Mary Beth Stanton on March 1, 1969 in Wood River and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters and a son in law: Colleen Minton of Bethalto, Kristin and Troy Cameron of Bethalto, one son and daughter in law: Kerry and Christina Minton of Alton, four grandchildren: Cassie, Tyler, Chase, Bryant, two sisters and brothers in law: Linda and Scott Cureton of Fredericktown, Missouri, Barbara and Harry Tripp of Fredericktown, Missouri, four brothers and sisters in law: Kenneth and Elfie Minton of Tampa, Florida, Myron and Robin Minton of Advance, Missouri, David Minton of Jacksonville, Illinois, Michael and Dana Minton of Chesterfield, Missouri, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was a former member of the Bethalto Jaycees. He was an avid baseball fan and he enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Wood River.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Wood River. Pastor Bob Tracey will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Wood River.
