Delmar Wayne Brown Jr

Delmar Wayne Brown Jr, 78, passed away at 7:20 am on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Alton Nursing and Rehab in Alton. 

 

He was born January 31, 1935 in Wood River, IL, the son of Delmar and Pearl Elizabeth (Jones) Brown.

   

He married Dixie Lee Wallace on February 14, 1959 in Worden, IL.  She survives.

Delmar served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines from 1953 to 1956.  He was a routing supervisor at Olin Corporation for 17 years, retiring in 1969.  He was a member of the Bethalto Church of God. He loved sports. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia D. and Robert Schaus of Belleville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Troy A. Brown of Wood River, Roger W. and Shelly  Brown of DeKab, TX and Jimmy D. and Carrie Brown of Robinson, IL; twelve grandchildren, Amber, Trysden, Kelsey, Corey, Joshua, Jordan, Jace, Eric, Ashley, B.J., Rae, Dustin and Nick; six great grandchildren; a brother, Don Brown of Bethalto; a sister, June Burnett of NH and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Rickie L. Brown, a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Brown, two grandchildren, Kendra Brown and Doris Grubner and a sister, Jean Scoggins.


Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Bethalto Church of God with Pastor Tim Campbell officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. 


Memorials may be made to the Bethalto Church of God Youth Group.
