Delbert H. “Butch” Scheer, 90, passed at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his home in Alton. Born September 25, 1922 in New Bremen, Ohio, he was the son of Lafe and Wilma (Oberwitte) Scheer. He served in the U.S. Air Corps during WWII and retired as a welder for Superior Coach Corporation. On June 5, 1948 in New Knoxville, Ohio, he married the former Juanita E. Roediger. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda E. Jorges of Alton, and Karen L. Nessing (Dr. William Nessing) of Florissant, MO, and one brother, James Scheer (Lucille) of Minster, Ohio. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Sylvester, Roger, Robert, and Lafe Scheer, and a sister, Lela Mae Bilger. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton with flag presentation by the Alton VFW Post 1308. Reverend Jamie Hahs and Reverend Nicole Cox will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, BJC Hospice or the 5A’s Animal Shelter.
