Deborah A. Klopfer

Deborah A. Klopfer, age 61, passed away at 4:06 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at her residence with her family by her side. 


She was born in Alton, IL on August 3, 1949, the daughter of William W. and Carole M. (Aulabaugh) Sloan.


Deborah married Michael A. Klopfer at St. Patrick’s Church in Alton, on June 24, 1967. He survives. 


She was the Business Manager for the Alton Colonial Fife & Drum Corp for 10 years, a room mother at Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church for over 15 years, and loved working at the Godfrey Meat Market.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Illinois Artisan Society, her artwork was displayed at Rend Lake, Springfield & Chicago, IL.  She was very talented in painting, crafts, cooking & baking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, friends and especially her grand children. 


Deborah is survived by her husband, one Daughter; Michelle Klopfer and her fiancé Andy Bechtold of Godfrey, three sons; Matt and his spouse Kari Klopfer of Godfrey, Ben Klopfer of Alton, and Patrick Klopfer of Alton, nine grandchildren; Andrew T. Price, Anna E. Price and her fiancé T.C. Dixon, Katelyn E. Klopfer, Emma Kay Klopfer, Robert M. Klopfer, Benjamin M. Klopfer, Hayden J. Crone, Matthew M. Klopfer II, and Claire M. Klopfer, and a new grandchild in the spring, and one great grandchild; Sophia M. Dixon, a brother; Dan and his spouse Barb Sloan of Alton, and one sister; Mary Jayne and her spouse Tom DeWitt of Grafton, Il, and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Haley Hazelwonder, one sister; Pamela Gay Sloan, and her best friend Babe her black Lab that passed away the day before her.


Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday January 28, 2011 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.


A funeral Mass will be at 11 am, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton, with Fr. Delix Michel SSL as celebrant.
