David O. Lawrence, 73, passed away at 6:20pm on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 15, 1938, in Alton, Illinois the son of the late Leigh and Blanche (Blackmore) Lawrence.
He married the former Bette J. Sparks on April 3, 1983, in Edwardsville and she survives. Other survivors include one son and daughter in law: Howard and Susanne Lawrence of Winfield, Kansas, eight daughters and their spouses: Ruth and Bryan Wallace of Wood River, Mary and Garry Staggs of Fieldon, Annetta Reynolds of Alton, Kathy and Dennis Kellim of Bethalto, Cindi Jones of San Diego, California, Terri and Sam Fanning of Milford, Illinois, Cheri and Michael Mayer of Brimfield, Illinois, and Denise Sparks and her partner: Jamie Farmer of Alton, sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one sister and brother in law: Ruth and Ronnie Schneider of Bethalto.
He was formerly employed at Kimble Towers in San Diego, California in the maintenance department. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed genealogy and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Godfrey Quik Trip.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter: Sarah Jean Lawrence, and infant twin siblings.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to BJC Hospice of Alton.
