David Lee Gordon, 60, of Brighton died unexpectedly at 6:23 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center’s Emergency Room. Dave was known to everyone as Uncle Dave. He was a friend to all that knew him. He was born June 28, 1955, the son of the late James T. and Lois (McCord) Gordon. Dave had three beautiful daughters from his former marriage. Surviving are Kelly T. and (Ross) Durocher of Wood River, Samantha J. and (Brian) Dale of Wood River, and Lisa K. Gordon of Edwardsville. He was proud grandfather of three grandsons, William Lee Durocher, Colin Edward Dale and one little special grandson on the way. Dave enjoyed spending time with his daughters and their families on holidays and taking them out to breakfast on weekends. Dave was a wonderful husband to Dianne Marie (Bechtold) Boren. They were together for 14 wonderful years. They married on August 2, 2002. She survives along with two step sons that reside in Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are his brothers, James (Nona) Gordon of Ashford, AL, Jerry (Pam) Gordon of Alton, Steve (Mary) Gordon of Cottage Hills, Richard (Portia) Gordon of Moro, Larry Gordon of Alton and a sister, Debbie (Bruce) Bonebreak Sr. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dave Jackson of Roxana and a sister-in-law, Susan Cress of Brighton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty (Gordon) Jackson and a brother Terry Gordon. Dave graduated from Roxana High School in 1973. He was an exceptional gymnast majoring in trampoline and taught gymnastics at the Alton YMCA in the late 70’s. Dave worked for the Kupferle Foundry Company in St. Louis, MO as the plant superintendent for the past 8 years. His prior employer was Owens Illinois Brockway as machine shop supervisor for 17 years. Dave was well respected and loved by his employees, and has countless friends among them. Dave was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his close friends and brother Jerry. He also enjoyed playing cards with his brothers and friends as well. Dave loved playing music and was a mentor to his nephew Jason Gordon who was very near and dear to his heart, as well as the rest of his many nieces and nephews. Dave was a kind and generous man, giving to different charities among his favorites was the Alton Housing Authority. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. As per Dave’s wishes, he was cremated and there will be a private family burial service. A celebration of his life will be held at Mac’s Timeout Lounge in Alton on Saturday March 5, 2016 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Per family request, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
