David F. Clark, Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Air Force, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.

Born on May 28, 1948, David dedicated his life to serving his country with honor and distinction. He graduated from Penn State University, University of Southern California, and University of Northern Colorado. He began his military career in the Army, serving for 3 years, before transitioning to the Air Force for 19 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Over his 22 years of service, he demonstrated unwavering commitment, leadership, and bravery.

David was known not only for his dedication to his country but also for his deep love for his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Phyllis Clark, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless, cherished memories. He was a proud father to his daughter, Mallory Clark, and his son, Patrick (Afton) Clark, both children from his marriage with Phyllis. David’s family was his pride and joy, and he was a source of strength, wisdom, and guidance for them.

David is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Mallory; son, Patrick; daughter-in-law, Afton; sisters, Lee Bolton, Kathi Clark, and Janine Calhoun; and son, Jason Clark, from a previous marriage; along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. His memory will forever be a beacon of inspiration to those who had the honor of knowing him.

A visitation and service celebrating and honoring David's life will be held at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, located at 102 West Washington Street, O’Fallon, IL 62269, on August 30, 2024. The visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. Thereafter, a burial with full military honors will take place at O’Fallon City Cemetery, located at North Oak Street, O’Fallon, IL 62269.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sgt. Charles A. Fricke VFW Post 805, located at 223 West First Street, O’Fallon, IL 62269. Online condolences may be posted at www.wfh-ofallon.com.

In retirement, David enjoyed spending time with his family, studying God’s word, and giving back to his community, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and church. He was a man of God, integrity, courage, and compassion, whose legacy will live on through the lives of those he touched. David’s life was a testament to the values he held dear - service, family, and faith. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
