David C. Jarnagin, 78, passed away at 5:37 pm Saturday October 30, 2010 at his home.
He was born on March 24, 1932 in Clarksville, AR, the son of James R. and Mary C. (Compton) Jarnagin.
He married Dorothy Marie Harris on March 22, 1953 in Marston, MO. She passed away on November 20, 2000.
He served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Laclede Steel in Alton.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Allen and Betty Jarnagin and Charles Jarnagin all of Bethalto; a son-in-law, Edward Herrin of Worden; five grandchildren, Cliff Herrin of Winchester, IL, Kristina and Doug Herrin Poeling of Bethalto, Kimberly Jarnagin of Cottage Hills and Kaitlin and Makenna Herrin of Worden; five great grandchildren, Jaeden Poeling, Abbigail Jarnagin, Connor Herrin, Olivia Herrin and Payton McCann; a sister, Minnie Casey of Little Rock, AR; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Jerri Jarnagin of Portageville, MO, Robert and Ruby Jarnagin of Bethalto and a twin brother and his spouse, Dolin and Melvin Jarnagin of Marston, MO; a sister-in-law, Daisy Brewer of Blytheville, Ar and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Herrin, a sister, Rebecca Colvert and two brothers, Sammy Jarnagin and Billy Jarnagin.
Cremation rites will be accorded
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
