David A. "Gene" Fowler, 94, passed away 2:20 p.m., October 31, 2017 at his residence.

Born on January 31, 1923 in Crescent, MO, he was the son of David A. and Fannie Jane (Hill) Fowler.

A World War II , Army Air Force veteran, he had been a truck mechanic with the Ford Motor Company before retiring.

He married Oneta M. Edgington on January 6, 1947 in Pickett, Ark.  She died August 21, 1999.  In 2001 in Granite City, he married Patricia J. (Wells) Loney.  She survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John H. (Cynthia) Fowler of Bethalto; four step-sons, Robin Irvin, Sherrill Irvin, Michael Irvin and Marcus Irvin; daughter, Margaret E. Reis of Moro; step-daughters, Brenda Milton and Cynthia Casabolt; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

His parents; first wife; four brothers, John, Virgil, Herbert and Charles Fowler; and two sisters, Gretrude M. Bell and Opal E. Monroe preceded in death.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m Saturday at Meadowbrook Southern Baptist Church.

Rev. Kevin Auten will officiate.

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to OSF St. Anthony's Hospice.

Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
