Darren Drake Nelson, age 53, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Darren was born on April 21, 1971 in St. Louis, a son of Gary L. and Sue (Drake) Nelson of Edwardsville, Ill. Darren will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, respected colleague, and dear friend to many. Darren attended Southern Illinois University after graduating from Edwardsville High School in 1989.
Darren enjoyed his successful career working in the hospitality/sports entertainment industry, Throughout his career, Darren had the privilege of working in many exciting venues. Those included the Super Dome in New Orleans, the Kentucky Derby, the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, and many baseball stadiums throughout the country including the World Series in Atlanta, GA. In addition to these sports venues, Darren was employed as Food and Beverage Director at the Westin Hotel in New Orleans, LA. He was currently employed by Delaware North as manager of the 703 Club at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
Darren was an avid sports fan, as well as, being a movie buff. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends or watching movies with his daughter, Alexandra.
Darren is survived by his parents, loving daughter, Alexandra Nelson, dear brother, Matthew Nelson, extended family, and many wonderful friends.
In celebration of Darren's life, a memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, Ill. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
