Dale Sheldon Conreux, 61, passed from this life at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at his home in Brighton, IL.
He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on February 13, 1949, to Oliver (Jack) and Betty Conreux. He attended Fosterburg School, and Alton High School. He entered the Navy in 1968 and served until 1972. He married Mary N. Wenzel August 18, 1972 in Alton and she survives. Also surviving are three brothers, Robert Conreux and his wife, Sherry, of Alton, John Conreux, of Godfrey, Mark Conreux and his wife, Patty, of Troy, IL., One sister, Michelle (Conreux) Bachman and her husband Dale. In-laws Ronald Wenzel of Lufkin, TX., Cecilia Plopper and her husband, Doug, of Lufkin, TX., Doug Wenzel and his wife, Kathy, of Alton, Mindy Barthol and her husband, Randy, of Shreveport, LA, best friend, Rick Wagner, Aunt Joan Elders, close friend Faye Nichols, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and grandparents he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy, nephew Chris Conreux, sister-in-law Tammy (Mitchell) Conreux, and his in-laws, Cecil and Wanda Wenzel. He worked at Olin Casting in East Alton, IL. He also worked with his father in the heating and air conditioning business.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday.
Reverend Sonny Renken will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family, American Cancer Society, and St. Anthony’s Home Health and Hospice.
