Dale E. Krepel, 68, passed away at 5:31 am on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 13, 1955, in Alton, IL to Charles and Teresa "T.Ann" (Gibbons) Krepel.
He married Jeanne Marie Winter on September 29, 1978, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. She survives.
Dale was a talented artist and singer. His artwork donned school projects, T-shirts and many walls. As one of the original shanty men at Morrison's Irish Pub, created joyful noise every Thursday evening. He was member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was dedicated to his faith and community. Dale also held the esteemed position of a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed the pursuit of hunting with a bow. As a devoted ever-present grandfather, his grandchildren were a source of deep pride and fulfillment.
In addition to his wife, Dale is survived by his beloved children, a son, Nathan (Jessica [Pennell]) Krepel of Godfrey; two daughters, Sarah (Mark) Eagan of Godfrey, Katie (Matthew) McDannel of Alton; his father, Charles Krepel of Alton; five grandchildren, Brayden Krepel, Drake Krepel, Emmylou Eagan, Grace McDannel and Reid McDannel; a sister, Amy (Guy) Clary of Bethalto; three brothers, Jeff (Esther) Krepel of Alton, Ken (Charlene) Krepel of Plymouth, MN, and Brian (Lisa) Krepel of West Frankfort, IL, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, T.Ann (Gibbons) Krepel.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Monday, December 11, 2023, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Celebrants, Father Steve Janoski and Deacon Bill Kessler.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials are suggested to Knights of Columbus, or Catholic Charities.
