JERSEYVILLE-  Cynthia Jane (Stringer) Hetzel, 67, died at 8:10 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home, where she had been admitted that day, from complications of Huntington's Disease.She was born in Carrollton on August 18, 1947, one of three children born to George & Dorothy (Sears) Stringer.She graduated in 1965 from Jersey Community High School, and was employed as a Lab Technician for various health care facilities, including Jersey Community Hospital where she was employed for nearly 22 years, retiring in 1999 due to her failing health.She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyvillewhere she sang in the church choir and was active in the Sarah Circle.She married Edward Hetzel on Aug. 24, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, and they have shared 46 years together.Surviving are her husband, Edward Hetzel of Jerseyville; her mother, Dorothy Stringer of Jerseyville; two sons & daughters in law, Andrew & Traci Hetzel of Jerseyville, and Jon & Shelley Hetzel of Jerseyville; six grandchildren, Gabriella and Savannah Hetzel, Kirsten, Eli, Jacob & Sophie Hetzel; and two sisters, Nancy Moulton of Jerseyville and Debra Broers of Carlinville.She was preceded in death by her father, George Stringer; and her father in law and mother in law, Andrew & Theresa Hetzel.Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, with Rev. Mark Myers and Rev. Dennis Hill officiating.Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville or to the Huntington Disease Society of America.
