Curt Cottingham, 68, died at 9:44 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at his home in Elsah. Born February 7, 1946 in East Hardin, IL he was the son of Leonard Cottingham and Zelma (Neal) and Ernest White. Curt served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Laclede Steel Company in 1991 after 22 years of service. He loved to tinker and enjoyed a good, cold Budweiser. He was a longtime member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and the East American Legion #794. On January 30, 1971 he married the former Patricia “Pat” Ray. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Anita Cottingham of Godfrey, a grandson, Evan Cottingham, a brother, Tom Cottingham (Ada) of Jacksonville, and several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leonard Cottingham and a sister, Betty Holland. A memorial CELEBRATION will be from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 at the VFW Post 1308 in Alton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1308.
