Crystal Renee (Branham) Breden, 48, died at 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital after a brave battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Jerseyville on Sept. 3, 1963, and was the daughter of John and Esther (Russell) Branham.
Crystal grew up in Jerseyville along with four brothers, and attended Jersey Community High School. She later enrolled at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, where she graduated from their nursing program.
She began working at Christian Hospital Northeast and Jersey Community Hospital before accepting a position with Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, where she was a RN in the Emergency Room.
She took great pride in her work being able to help those in need, and she also loved to spend time with her grandchildren, as well as fishing and camping.
She married Michael Breden on Feb. 29, 2008 in Jerseyville, and he survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Esther Howard of Jerseyville; two daughters & a son in law, Katrina Tucker and her companion, Nick Woolsey of Jerseyville, and Stephanie & Ricky Bick of Hardin; two step children, Sara, and her husband, Jesse Mackenberg and Jeffrey Breden, and his companion, Heather Pinson, all of Hardin; seven grandchildren; three brothers & a sister in law, John Branham of St. Louis, Kenneth & Carla Branham of Haypress, and Michael Branham of Jerseyville; a half sister, Janice Wooten of Clarence, Mo.; and her mother in law, Virginia Breden of Hardin.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Branham; and a brother, Richard Branham who was killed in an accident of March 30, 1976.
Visitation willl be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. Mike Hagen will officiate.
Burial will be alongside her brother at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to her family in care of the funeral home to assist with funeral and medical expenses
